Content updates

Practice note, The Assistance and Access Act 2018 (Cth) considers the legal framework for industry assistance introduced by the Telecommunications and Other Legislation Amendment (Assistance and Access) Act 2018 (Cth) (Assistance and Access Act), which gives police and intelligence agencies powers to request or compel assistance from communications providers. The Assistance and Access Act amends the law relating to telecommunications, computer access warrants and search warrants, and introduces measures to address the challenges posed by pervasive encryption technology in relation to investigative and counter-terrorism activities.
