New Law of Evidence in Saudi’s Legislative System

The new law was issued on 30 December 2021 and shall enter into force one hundred and eighty days following the date of its publication in the Official Gazette (08 July 2022).

The provisions of this law that includes 11 chapters shall apply to civil and commercial transactions.

The law intends to develop the legal system in the kingdom, to meet the needs of technological life while adhering to Sharia and to prevent instability in the courts.

It shall repeal Part (IX) of the Law of Procedure before the Sharia Courts, promulgated by Royal Decree No. (M/1) dated 22/01/1435 AH and Part (VII) of the Law of Commercial Courts, promulgated by Royal Decree No. (M/93) dated 15/08/1441 AH.
