Contractual changes for Omanis working in the government sector

Based on the Royal Decree No. (89) of 2020 establishing the Ministry of Labour, defining its functions, and approving its organizational structure, Omanis in government sector shall occupy permanent positions under fixed-term employment contracts.

Either the employer or employee can terminate the employment contract before the end of the contractual year, and employees shall be deprived of their annual bonuses if they are considered to have a poor job performance.

The Resolution entered into force on 28 February 2022.
