Pursuant to Law No. (22) of 2021 Regulating Healthcare Services, coming into effect as of May 2022, it became mandatory for every resident, visitor, and tourist coming into Qatar to be covered with a health insurance policy.

The Ministry of Health in Qatar has announced, 2 days ago, that the 1st phase of the mandatory health insurance scheme will be implemented next month.

Starting February 1, all residents, visitors, and tourists will be required to present proof of being covered by a valid health insurance policy for the duration of the stay; and for those who hold an international health insurance, the policy must:

  1. Clearly include Qatar as part of its coverage.
  2. Be valid for the duration of the stay.
  3. Issued by one of the insurance companies approved in Qatar

The Ministry will provide the option for those subscribing to choose from the registered insurance companies through the links available on its website. There will be an option for a basic coverage scheme that will cover emergency and accidents services, for a premium of 50 Qatari Riyals per month.
