UAE lawyers and legal consultants in foreign law firms, percentage announced

The Federal Cabinet of UAE has issued resolution No. (105) of 2022 on the percentage of national lawyers and legal consultants at foreign law firms and legal consultancy offices. The resolution was enforced on January the 2nd of 2023.

• Licensed national lawyers and legal consultants employed by foreign law firms and legal consultancy offices shall not be less than (20%) of the overall number of lawyers and legal consultants employed by such firms.

• Pursuant to a resolution issued by the Minister of Justice, Certain foreign offices may be excluded from the percentage mentioned above or may be excluded from the percentage or maybe reduced in the event there isn't a sufficient number of national lawyers and legal consultants willing to work in the said offices, for a period not exceeding (3) three years, renewable for another similar period or periods.
